Frequently Asked Questions
Hi all - we are busy here at Grossman's packing fish and filling orders. We would like to work 24 hours a day, but we are low on Redbull and have to get some sleep. So we decided to have this section to help answer some questions that you may have while we are out...
Here we go....
Question - The shipping is kind of expensive. Are there other options?
Answer - Call us!! Sometimes we have other ideas - ie: we can steam your lobster prior to shipping and send it 2 day instead of over night. Christian has been staying up late racking his brain to get creative to save you cash!
Question - Why is it so expensive to ship your stuff?
Answer - We have tried everything from pack mule to postal service to fedex. We found our rate with fedex to be the lowest and they also always get our stuff to you on time. We ship overnight because if we don't people complain that the product isn't fresh. We want you to always have the best seafood dining experience when you buy from us!
Question - What if I order things that don't have to be shipped overnight?
Answer - We are trying to fix that problem - our computer programmers are smart, but the software isn't. So this is what we will do. We will see that your items can go ground - we will ship the items the least expensive way we can. Then we will refund your money! (this only makes sense with some orders - if you order all fresh and one dry item - then we will put it all in one box and ship overnight)
Question - My lobsters are very lethargic when I open the box - are they OK? Answer - They often get jet lagged. Sometime they don't get enough sleep because they were placed next to the barking dog on the flight. But don't worry - they will still taste great.
Question - My lobsters are going crazy and I am having a tough time getting them out of the box... HELP?!? Answer - don't pick them up by the tail. Makes them real mad . Try rolling them on their backs for a while and playing soft jazz. They will settle down - pick them up in the middle away from the tail before you throw them into the pot. Remember a relaxed lobster tastes better.
Question - Will you guys be getting Maryland Crabs anytime soon?
Answer - We hope to get them in the spring of 2010. 2008 and 2009 were really bad seasons and the prices were crazy and with the cost of fuel going out of site - it did not help the situation. We hope to have them back - we miss them.
